Navigating the limitations of the pandemic, Make Music New York 2022 marked a triumphant return to a full, in-person celebration citywide. Over 1,000 live, free outdoor concerts, music lessons, and jam sessions launched the summer solstice across the five boroughs. 

 
2022 Program Highlights Included: Faire la Fête, a daylong tribute featuring French classical and modern compositions at Battery Park, alongside a unique take on French musical traditions curated by Barbès Brooklyn and FranceRocks in front of Castle Clinton • Apollo’s Music Under the Marquee, a vibrant journey through Motown, Soul, Hip-Hop, and Afrobeat hosted by radio personalities under the historic Harlem theater marquee • Pueblo Harlem, the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance’s annual celebration of Hispanic heritage featuring youth ensembles and the Grammy Award-winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra at the General Grant National Memorial • Queens Memory Live, a four-hour showcase at Travers Park celebrating local musicians, storytellers, and poets from the borough's diverse Asian communities • Kids Rock for Kids, a daylong concert at the Old Stone House showcasing incredibly talented tween and teen rock bands from NYC and around the globe to benefit children in need • 1,000 Drums Crying for Peace, an ambitious, community-wide participatory drumming experience spreading a powerful message of anti-violence from Marcus Garvey Park and across East 125th Street • Plaza by Plaza, a record-setting activation of NYC Department of Transportation public spaces to revitalize underserved neighborhoods through live performances from Chinatown to Bedford-Stuyvesant.
