The 13th annual music holiday transformed the entire city into an open-air amphitheater, pushing the creative boundaries of NYC's public spaces. From synchronized canoe choirs at sunset to massive, instrument-specific park takeovers, the summer solstice celebrated the unstoppable sound of the community across every borough.

2019 Program Highlights Included: Water Night, a stunning sunset performance of Eric Whitacre’s choral work by thirty vocalists from canoes on the Gowanus Canal • Mass Appeal Vocals, an open-call performance of Mozart’s Requiemat Central Park’s Naumburg Bandshell • Mass Appeal Guitars, a Union Square play-along and workshop led by Broadway guitarist Ann Klein • Mass Appeal Harmonicas, a lesson and jam session with virtuoso Jia-Yi He at Central Park North • Mass Appeal French Horns, a classical-to-jazz brass takeover at Worth Square • Mass Appeal Mandolins, a gathering at Richard Tucker Park celebrating the New York Mandolin Orchestra's 95th year • Mass Appeal Ukuleles, a massive strum-and-sing-along on Central Park's Pilgrim Hill • Street Studios, mobile recording units materializing across Brooklyn sidewalks to turn passersby into producers • Porch Stomp!, a massive folk, bluegrass, and Americana takeover across Governors Island featuring over one hundred artists • Punk Island, a high-octane celebration of the NYC punk scene at Randall's Island featuring massive multi-stage sets.
