The Johnny Hartman Summer Solstice concert is an annual event held in Harlem's historic Hamilton Heights neighborhood at the Johnny Hartman Plaza. Organized by The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) in collaboration with Make Music New York, this free outdoor concert celebrates the legacy of jazz singer Johnny Hartman and aims to revitalize the vibrant outdoor music culture of Harlem's past.
For over 12 years, this partnership has sought to bring back the "Jazz Mobile" feel, reminiscent of the 60s and 70s when live jazz performances filled the streets, stoops, parks, and clubs of Harlem. The event strives to unite generations through soulful and culturally influenced music, ranging from Peruvian sounds to American Jazz, embodying the "Sankofa" spirit of bringing together the past and present.
This year’s event features performances from the following locally based musicians: Willis Wilson, Lizzie Thomas, Jacob Khalil, Misti Peruvian Jazz Project, Arpita Singh, DeeVine, and Latido Band NYC.
