Calling all Brass Musicians & Percussionists for the premiere of “100+ BPM” with Red Baraat

Calling all brass & marching band musicians!

As part of MMNY 2014, the critically acclaimed band Red Baraat will premiere “100+ BPM,” an interactive composition commissioned by NPR Music and created for the occasion by Red Baraat founder and Clinton Hill resident Sunny Jain.

During the afternoon, mobile bands will parade through Brooklyn and converge on Grand Army Plaza at 4:30pm, where they will join Red Baraat on the steps of the Brooklyn Public Library, in a peformance filmed and recorded by NPR Music.

All wind, brass players and percussionists –individuals and ensembles, amateur, student or professional – are invited to join! Musicians from Asphalt Orchestra, M.A.K.U. Soundsystem, Maracatu New York, Mariachi Tapatio de Alvaro Paulino, the drumlines for the NY Giants, NY Knicks and NY Jets, and several high school marching bands have already confirmed their participation.

If you’d like to play, here are the basics: On Saturday, June 21, you should arrive at the steps of the Brooklyn Public Library (10 Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, N.Y.) familiar with the piece, warmed up and ready to play no later than 4:30 p.m. ET.
